A Key Factor in Ensuring the Effectiveness and Efficiency of Organization

  • Introduction

Human Resource Planning is the process by which an organization ensures that it has the right number of people, at the right place, at the right time, capable of effectively and efficiently completing those tasks that will succeed the organization in achieving all its targets. It also defined as a tool to identify skill and competency gaps and develop plans for the enhancement of skills and competencies in human resources to remain competitive.HR planning forms an integral part of any organization and an organization’s success lies to a great extent to the skill, creativity and dedication of its employees.

There are six steps involved in the human resources planning process. The first step of human resource planning is to identify the company’s current human resources supply. The second step of human resource planning is to outline the future of company’s workforce. The third step is forecasting the employment demand. The forth step is to make an action plan which include recruitment plan, retaining plan and downsizing plan. The fifth step to have approved budget that includes compensation, recruiting, trainings, retaining. The final step is to control, review and adjust the plan. In this step the HR department must make sure that things are under control and its going as the plan and make sure that objectives are achieved as planned.

Importance of Human Resource Planning:

  • Human resource planning meets the organization need for right type of people in right number at right times.
  • Human resource planning helps the organization create and develop training and succes¬sion planning for employees of the organization.
  • During the expansion and diversification drives, more employees at various levels are needed. Through proper planning, an organization comes to know about the exact requirement of personnel in future plans.
  • Through human resource planning the organization might lead to the discovery of better means for managing human resources.
  • Human resource planning compels management to asses critically the strength and weak-nesses of its employees and personnel policies on continuous basis and, in turn, take corrective measures to improve the situation.
  • Human resource planning links the human resource needs of an organization to it strategic plan to ensure that staffing is sufficient, qualified and competent enough to achieve organization’s objectives.
  • Maintaining competitive advantage and employee turnover.
