Basic Excel Course

The Center of Business Administration (CBA) held a two weeks course on Basics of Excel from May 23 to June 01, 2021.

In this course, students were acquainted with topics such as usage of a spreadsheet, excel formulas, formula with multiple conditions, trace precedents, trace dependents, data manipulation, creating & maintaining a link, and working with functions library.

The participants of this course were CBA students. This course was concluded with an evaluation of the course outcomes, and a certificate distribution ceremony.

Team of 6th Batch Online Writing Course

Center of Business Administration initiated its volunteer online English writing program in April 2020. Since then, more than eight hundred (800+) students have benefited from this program and improved their English writing skills. In May 2021, CBA successfully completed the Batch 6th of this writing course which targeted 124 students. Out of these, 40 passed the course successfully and received their certificates of completion.

This project was run by a whole team of volunteers including a project manager, a technical manager and 10 mentors. Although most of these mentors are full-time university students or employees, they worked with extreme sense of responsibility and community service.

We thank them for their service and wish them all the best in their future endeavors.

ACCA & FIA Scholarship

CBA in line with its corporate social responsibilities, endowed a scholarship award of 50% on ACCA & FIA tuition, for Fariba Hussaini. She is a student at Kateb Private High School and had best performance in mathematics during high school.

CBA administration team wishes Fariba Hussaini and all KPHS students further success in higher education and their careers.

3rd Batch – Basics of Financial Accounting

Center of Business Administration (CBA) conducted the third term of a one-month course “Basics of Financial Accounting” from March 7 to April 5, 2021.

In this course, students were instructed about topics such as introduction to accounting, qualitative characteristics of financial information, accounting equation, ledger accounts, accrual concept, components of financial statements, and preparation of financial statements.

The participants of this course were around 20 university students from different majors and employees who worked at different organizations. The course was concluded with a workshop on how to make a career in accountancy, evaluation of the course outcomes, and a certificate distribution ceremony.

QuickBooks Training for CBA Students

The Center of Business Administration (CBA) held the first round of a three weeks course on QuickBooks from February 21 to March 09, 2021.

In this course, students were acquainted with topics such as installation of QuickBooks, creating a company, creating and designing accounts, creating items and inventory parts, working customer, working with vendor, work banking and working with QuickBooks report.

The participants of this course were around 12 CBA students who are currently studying ACCA. This course was concluded with a workshop on how to make a career in accountancy, evaluation of the course outcomes, and a certificate distribution ceremony.

Team of 5th Batch Online Writing Course

Center of Business Administration successfully completed the 5th batch of its Online English Writing Course. In this course over 156 students were shortlisted out of whom over 62 students successfully completed the course.

A total of 12 individuals volunteered with us to lead this project and mentor the students. These great people worked with us while pursuing their own studies at different universities around Asia.

The Center of Business Administration thanks them for their dedication and wishes them all the best for their career.

Basics of Financial Accounting Course

The Center of Business Administration (CBA) conducted the second term of a one-month course on Basics of Financial Accounting from January 19, to February 16, 2021.

In this course, students were instructed with topics such as introduction to accounting, qualitative characteristics of financial information, accounting equation, ledger accounts, accrual concept, components of financial statements, and preparation of financial statements.

The participants of this course were around 45 university students who studied different majors. This course was concluded with a workshop on how to make a career in accountancy, evaluation of the course outcomes, and a certificate distribution ceremony.

Effective Communication Training

The Center of Business Administration (CBA) conducted a two-days training on “Effective Communication” on February 07 & 08, 2021 at Zardozi Organization in Kabul, Afghanistan.

The training initiated with the introduction of participants and the trainer used the first 10 minutes to set expectations and ground rules. The training mainly focused to familiarize the participants with identifying elements of communication process and factors influencing it, understanding forms of communication, describing channels of communication at work, describing the ability to give job instruction, giving and receiving feedbacks, and writing effective emails.

The training was wrapped up with the conduction of training evaluation by participants, a post assessment, and certificate distribution.

Basics of Financial Accounting Course

The Center of Business Administration (CBA) successfully held a one-month course on Basics of Financial Accounting from December 20, 2020 to January 12, 2021.

In this course, students were familiarized with topics such as introduction to accounting, qualitative characteristics of financial information, accounting equation, ledger accounts, accrual concept, components of financial statements, and preparation of financial statements.

The participants of this course were around 40 university students from different fields. This course was concluded with a workshop on how to make a career in accountancy, evaluation of the course outcomes, and a certificate distribution ceremony.

Personal Productivity Skills Training for NRC Staff:

The Center of Business Administration (CBA) conducted a two-day training session on “Personal Productivity Skills” for the Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) staffs on Wednesday and Thursday, December 30 & 31, 2020 at the Safi Landmark Hotel, Kabul, Afghanistan.

Throughout the two days training the participants got familiar with the personal productivity skills in the areas of Communicating Effectively, Assertiveness, Ethics at Workplace, Effective Leadership & Team Building, Motivating People, Managing with Authority, Influencing, and Negotiation Skills. During the session, participants involved and learnt the skills to use them in their daily life activities.

Certificate Distribution of 4th Batch Mentors

The Center of Business Administration (CBA) conducted a certificate distribution ceremony for the mentors of 4th batch “Online English Writing Course” on Saturday, January 2, 2021.

At the session, CBA awarded the 4th batch mentors with certificates of appreciation and thanked them for voluntarily assisting the students to learn English writing skills (using Email and WhatsApp platforms) over the past two months.

This batch, the fourth one completed since April 2020, started on October 10, 2020 and ended on December 10, 2020. For this batch, 172 students were shortlisted and 50 students succeeded to acquire completion certificates. We congratulate all of these students on successfully completing the course.

A Two Day Training on Report Writing For NRC Staff

The Center of Business Administration (CBA) held a two day training on “Report Writing” for staff of the Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) on Saturday and Sunday from December 26 & 27, 2020 at the Safi Landmark Hotel, Kabul, Afghanistan.

The training kicked off with a pre-test that was taken by the participants, and it was based on the following agendas:
The training was conducted using methods that included facilitation by the training, question and answers sessions (Q & A), presentation, game, discussion, and simulation.

Throughout the two days training, the participants discovered that what a report is, why it is important to write or present reports, different types of reports, qualities of good reports, and the common mistakes in report writing. Similarly, the participants got familiar with the steps of writing a complete report (e.g. identifying a problem, data vs. knowledge, data vs. information, and data collection techniques.)

The participants also got information about data analysis and creating data graphs, planning a report, organizing the information, choosing the report format, report writing format, practicing, and report sample. Moreover, the participants learnt practically about punctuation and capitalization rules, formatting and style, the seven Cs in writing, ethics of report writing, and reporting presentation.

At the closing of the two days training, the participants took the post test and training evaluation form.

2nd E-Payment Expo

The Center of Business Administration (CBA) attended a four-day exhibition “2nd E-Payment Expo” that was held at Afghanistan Expo Center from December 21 to December 24, 2020.

During the exhibition, CBA’s representatives provided information to the attendees about ACCA and FIA qualifications and our training in the areas of Accounting, Finance, Communications, Audit, Leadership, Human Resources Management (HRM), M&E and Management. A number of stall attendees also asked and received information about our financial consultancy firm, Advanced Accounting LLC.

Other participants at the expo were organizations such as Afghanistan’s Payment System, General Presidential Revenue, Union of Private Banks, Afghanistan Banks Association, Electronic Money Companies, Technology Companies, and some E-Payment Service Providing Companies.

CBA awarded GOLD status by ACCA

As a result of dedication and commitment of CBA administration, lecturers and staff members, CBA was awarded with GOLD status on December 22, 2020.

As a GOLD approved learning partner, CBA is now among the top tuition providers for ACCA in the country.

A 2 Day Training on Inventory and Record Keeping

The Center of Business Administration (CBA) held a two day training on “Inventory and Record Keeping” on December 7 and 8, 2020 at Zardozi Organization in Kabul, Afghanistan.

The training initiated with an introduction to Inventory and Record Keeping. During the training, participants learnt about topics such as Record Management, Life Cycle of Records, Various Kinds of Assets, Internal Control System, Asset Control Activities, and Notes for Managers. The training was delivered using methodologies, such as open discussion, case study, self-assessment, brainstorming, clustering, gallery walk, presentations, and lectures.

The training was wrapped up with the conduction of training evaluation by participants, a post assessment, certificates distribution, and group photo.

A Two Day Training on “Leadership”

The Center of Business Administration (CBA) prosperously conducted a two day training on “Leadership” on November 07 & 08, 2020 at Zardozi Organization in Kabul, Afghanistan.

The training initiated with the introduction of participants (trainers and trainees), Setting Expectations and Ground Rules. The training was based on topics, such as Managing with Authority, Leading Your Team, and Negotiation Skills. The two days session successfully ended with the conduction of an Evaluation, Certificate Distribution and Group Photo.

After high school graduation, choosing the right fields of study for ones higher education and overall career, is the most difficult task for today’s generation. Due to lack of information about the fields of study and their career prospects, as well as an inability to recognize their own potentials, wills and capabilities, these students choose opt for the wrong fields of study.

In addition to that, lack of proper guidance from parents/family’s side as well as school teachers also contribute to the wrong choices. These wrong choices not only make students’ lives difficult but also have adverse social and economic impacts.

Keeping this in mind, in order to fulfill its social responsibility, the Center of Business Administration (CBA) introduces “Aghaz Mentorship Program” with an aim to help the high school students in choosing the thriving career they deserve.

Program Structure

Step-1: Self-Assessment Test: At this stage, we offer a Self-Assessment Test to the high school students in order to explore their personality type(s) and identify their profession of interest which also matches their personality type(s.)

Step-2: Career Guide: At this stage, we handover a Career Guide to the high school students that contains 73 pages. In this Career Guide, we have provided information about international scholarships from 23 countries of the world, national scholarships from all provinces in government universities and institutes (Kankor), and the top 15 private universities in the country.

Step-3: Career Counseling Fair: At this stage, we organize an in person/virtual event for the school students through which we connect the high school students with their concern counselor/mentor(s) for further guidance/coaching regarding their favorite fields of study. Similarly, we are continuously working to keep the high school students updated for making their successful career.

Objectives:

The purpose of this program is to address career concerns of the high school students in order to:

• Help them explore their desired field of study;
• Give vision and encourage students for professional careers;
• Provide all required information which can assist students to make informed decisions regarding their career;
• Connect students with their relevant mentors who can assist them in evaluating their career opportunities and enable them to see the bigger picture of their desired profession; and
• Update students regularly about job market.

HR Training Course Retaining Top Employees

Center of Business Administration (CBA) successfully conducted its 8th HR Training Course on “Retaining Top Employees” on Saturday, October 17th, 2020 at the Safi Landmark Hotel, Kabul, Afghanistan.

The 8th HR Training Course which was about “Retaining Top Employees” included three sessions. The topics discussed the competitive advantage of retaining top employees, who they were and how to retain them in a company. This course was particularly designed for owners and managers of organizations. This training was essential for employers who have consistent problems with high staff turnover – especially of top employees that affect business performance in the market. The training aimed at showing different ways to employees in retaining a competent, energetic, and devoted staff for business goals that is one of biggest challenges of the employers today.

This course assumptions were based on staff turnover, especially of top employees. Generally, when top employees want to resign, the employer usually tries to persuade them to stay through offering them incentives, such as an increase in their salary, or promotion. Top employees of a company usually resign under pretenses of family circumstances or personal issues. The enterprise lacks a long-term strategy for retaining top employees. HRM activities are usually short-term and pragmatic. The task of identifying top employees is difficult, as the enterprise lacks an effective system to evaluate performance and achievements.

As a result of the training, participants learnt skills to retain top employees centered on salary, bonuses, and rewards as stipulated by law. Plus, the participants gained necessary skills of identifying the importance of retaining top employees in supporting the company’s competitive edge, the functions of HRM, the role of the employers in retaining top employees, identifying top employees by qualitative and quantitative measures, number of ways to understand expectations of top employees, the tools for retaining top employees and ways to apply it in practice in their business activities.

HR Training Course on Organizing for Successful Training and Development

Center of Business Administration (CBA) conducted its 7th HR Training Course on “Organizing for Successful Training and Development” on Saturday, October10, 2020 at the Safi Landmark Hotel, Kabul, Afghanistan.

The 7th HR Training Course was based on four sessions; each one about, Scope of the Training, Needs Assessment, Preparing a Training Plan and Training Impact Assessment. The training was specifically designed for human resources managers, training and development managers, and business owners who are responsible for the training activities in their companies.

Usually, training in companies takes place when the company has only budgeted for it and only little effort is put/invested in training because they believe training is a waste of money. Moreover, training is thought of as the single solution to all performance problems, and as a one-time activity.

This training was designed to help participants gain the necessary skills to effectively organize and manage the training activities in their organization. It also aimed at helping participants identify the training needs, choose appropriate training provides, apply the training at work, devise guidelines to evaluate the impact of training and link it with performance improvement.
