Team of 6th Batch Online Writing Course

Center of Business Administration initiated its volunteer online English writing program in April 2020. Since then, more than eight hundred (800+) students have benefited from this program and improved their English writing skills. In May 2021, CBA successfully completed the Batch 6th of this writing course which targeted 124 students. Out of these, 40 passed the course successfully and received their certificates of completion.

This project was run by a whole team of volunteers including a project manager, a technical manager and 10 mentors. Although most of these mentors are full-time university students or employees, they worked with extreme sense of responsibility and community service.

We thank them for their service and wish them all the best in their future endeavors.

ACCA & FIA Scholarship

CBA in line with its corporate social responsibilities, endowed a scholarship award of 50% on ACCA & FIA tuition, for Fariba Hussaini. She is a student at Kateb Private High School and had best performance in mathematics during high school.

Team of 5th Batch Online Writing Course

Center of Business Administration successfully completed the 5th batch of its Online English Writing Course. In this course over 156 students were shortlisted out of whom over 62 students successfully completed the course.

A total of 12 individuals volunteered with us to lead this project and mentor the students. These great people worked with us while pursuing their own studies at different universities around Asia.

The Center of Business Administration thanks them for their dedication and wishes them all the best for their career.

Certificate Distribution of 4th Batch Mentors

The Center of Business Administration (CBA) conducted a certificate distribution ceremony for the mentors of 4th batch “Online English Writing Course” on Saturday, January 2, 2021.

At the session, CBA awarded the 4th batch mentors with certificates of appreciation and thanked them for voluntarily assisting the students to learn English writing skills (using Email and WhatsApp platforms) over the past two months.

This batch, the fourth one completed since April 2020, started on October 10, 2020 and ended on December 10, 2020. For this batch, 172 students were shortlisted and 50 students succeeded to acquire completion certificates. We congratulate all of these students on successfully completing the course.

2nd E-Payment Expo

The Center of Business Administration (CBA) attended a four-day exhibition “2nd E-Payment Expo” that was held at Afghanistan Expo Center from December 21 to December 24, 2020.

During the exhibition, CBA’s representatives provided information to the attendees about ACCA and FIA qualifications and our training in the areas of Accounting, Finance, Communications, Audit, Leadership, Human Resources Management (HRM), M&E and Management. A number of stall attendees also asked and received information about our financial consultancy firm, Advanced Accounting LLC.

Other participants at the expo were organizations such as Afghanistan’s Payment System, General Presidential Revenue, Union of Private Banks, Afghanistan Banks Association, Electronic Money Companies, Technology Companies, and some E-Payment Service Providing Companies.

CBA awarded GOLD status by ACCA

As a result of dedication and commitment of CBA administration, lecturers and staff members, CBA was awarded with GOLD status on December 22, 2020.

As a GOLD approved learning partner, CBA is now among the top tuition providers for ACCA in the country.

A 2 Day Training on Inventory and Record Keeping

The Center of Business Administration (CBA) held a two day training on “Inventory and Record Keeping” on December 7 and 8, 2020 at Zardozi Organization in Kabul, Afghanistan.

The training initiated with an introduction to Inventory and Record Keeping. During the training, participants learnt about topics such as Record Management, Life Cycle of Records, Various Kinds of Assets, Internal Control System, Asset Control Activities, and Notes for Managers. The training was delivered using methodologies, such as open discussion, case study, self-assessment, brainstorming, clustering, gallery walk, presentations, and lectures.

The training was wrapped up with the conduction of training evaluation by participants, a post assessment, certificates distribution, and group photo.

HR Training Course Retaining Top Employees

Center of Business Administration (CBA) successfully conducted its 8th HR Training Course on “Retaining Top Employees” on Saturday, October 17th, 2020 at the Safi Landmark Hotel, Kabul, Afghanistan.

The 8th HR Training Course which was about “Retaining Top Employees” included three sessions. The topics discussed the competitive advantage of retaining top employees, who they were and how to retain them in a company. This course was particularly designed for owners and managers of organizations. This training was essential for employers who have consistent problems with high staff turnover – especially of top employees that affect business performance in the market. The training aimed at showing different ways to employees in retaining a competent, energetic, and devoted staff for business goals that is one of biggest challenges of the employers today.

This course assumptions were based on staff turnover, especially of top employees. Generally, when top employees want to resign, the employer usually tries to persuade them to stay through offering them incentives, such as an increase in their salary, or promotion. Top employees of a company usually resign under pretenses of family circumstances or personal issues. The enterprise lacks a long-term strategy for retaining top employees. HRM activities are usually short-term and pragmatic. The task of identifying top employees is difficult, as the enterprise lacks an effective system to evaluate performance and achievements.

As a result of the training, participants learnt skills to retain top employees centered on salary, bonuses, and rewards as stipulated by law. Plus, the participants gained necessary skills of identifying the importance of retaining top employees in supporting the company’s competitive edge, the functions of HRM, the role of the employers in retaining top employees, identifying top employees by qualitative and quantitative measures, number of ways to understand expectations of top employees, the tools for retaining top employees and ways to apply it in practice in their business activities.

The 2nd Career Counseling Session

Our second Career Counselling Session took place with over 40 students on Friday, October 10, 2020 at the Center of Business Administration (CBA) in Kabul, Afghanistan.

At the beginning of the session, students took the Career Counseling Survey and the Self-Assessment Test to identify their personality type(s.). Later on, the Aghaz Team Members had a presentation about the outcomes of the Self-Assessment Test.

After the Self-Assessment Test and the presentation, students received the Career Guide in which we have provided information about international scholarships from 23 countries, national scholarships in government universities and institutes, and top 15 private universities in the country. The Career Counseling Survey and the Self-Assessment Test papers were collected for future use.

As a result of the second Career Counseling Session, we also had a Question and Answer Session (Q&A) during which the students and AGHAZ Team Members discussed regarding the necessity of the Career Counseling Session for the high school students in Afghanistan.

First Session of AGHAZ Mentorship Program

We conducted our first Career Counselling Session with 20 participants on Friday, October 02, 2020 at the Center of Business Administration (CBA) in Kabul, Afghanistan.

During the session, the participants took part in the career counseling survey and Self-Assessment Test to identify their personality types.

After the assessment, the Aghaz Team Members had a presentation about the Self-Assessment Test to provide further details about its results.

Participants also received the Career Guide in which we have provided information about international scholarships from 23 countries, list of top 15 national universities offering scholarships and information about all private and government universities and institutes in the country.

Volunteer Online English Writing Course

We conducted a session with the 1st, 2nd and 3rd-Batches of English Writing Course mentors’ on Friday, September 11, 2020.
At the session, we awarded the mentors with certificate of appreciation and had a fruitful workshop with the mentors and introduced the Aghaz Mentorship Program (a career counseling program initiated by CBA) which is going to be launched soon.
CBA thanks all these devoted and volunteer mentors who have been tirelessly assisted the students to learn English Writing Skills over the past 6 months.

These online courses started in April, 2020 and so far, CBA has successfully conducted three rounds of the course for over 400 students. The number of interested applicants who were shortlisted and successfully completed the Online English Writing Courses (1st, 2nd and 3rd-batches) are as follow:

• First-Batch: 130 applicants were shortlisted and 54 have successfully completed the online course and received certificate of completion.
• Second-Batch: 137 applicants were shortlisted and 55 have successfully completed the course and received certificate of completion.
• Third-Batch: 143 applicants were shortlisted and 85 have successfully completed the course and received their certificate of completion.

Third HR Training Course – Recruiting for Key Management Positions

Center of Business Administration (CBA) conducted its 3rd HR Training Course “Recruiting for Key Management Positions” on February 29, 2020, at Safi Landmark Hotel, Kabul. The training aimed to teach the process of finding and hiring candidates to fill top-level positions at the company.

The training consisted of 3 sessions, The recruitment compass, Behavioral interviewing techniques, and Decision making in negotiating contracts and benefits. By taking this course participants are expected to be able to develop and track goals for the recruiting and hiring process, make correct decisions in evaluating the candidates, and learn how to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.

Workshop – Corporate Legal Compliance

MAZARS Afghanistan Limited conducted a workshop in collaboration with Center of Business Administration (CBA) on Corporate Legal Compliance on Thursday, February 20, 2020, at Serena Hotel. This workshop aimed to ensure that a organization following all the laws and regulations that apply to their financial and legal activities. The workshop consisted of 3 sessions; New IFRS and their impact on financial reporting, legal compliance issues in Afghanistan, and AML/CFT challenges and solutions.

Second HR Training Course – Performing Effective Job Design

Center of Business Administration (CBA) conducted its 2nd HR Training Course Performing Effective Job Design on February 15, 2020, at Safi Landmark Hotel, Kabul.

The course split into 3 Sessions; job design, job design process, and assigning jobs to achieve the highest level of effectiveness. At the end of this course the participants learnt; the importance and practical benefits of job design concerning the achievement of company objectives, steps of job design, several models of organizational structures, apply knowledge of job design to job organization and employee development.

Training – Organizational Ethics and Behavior at ADF

Center of Business Administration (CBA) conducted a training on Organizational Ethics and Behavior on Wednesday, January 15, 2020, at the Agricultural Development Fund (ADF).

The main focus of the training was changing the work environment and behavior in ADF in order to improve employee performance and workplace culture and ethics.

At the end of the training, the participants could understand concepts such as Management Hierarchy, Workplace Ethics, Organizational Behavior, and Harassment.

New Year 2020 – Gathering Party

The Center of Business Administration (CBA), in addition to providing ACCA and FIA courses, encourages students to extend their network through its diverse events. CBA organized this event in collaboration with Fanoos Accounting Services, Afghan Culture House, Aaj Logistics Company and Fadak Electronic Solutions on 9 January 2020 for 80 accountants on the purpose of building networks and entertainment.
